474 Arrested in Human Trafficking Sting, rescue 28 sexually exploited children (1 Viewer)

First of all, good work. Second of all, I have an idea regarding the lack of police. How about for 1 week, instead of doing traffic tickets, we use those officers to arrest the sick ****s.

I would imagine that rounding up enough officers for a week to make arrests is not the hard(est) part as far as resources go. It's the weeks, months, years of investigation and gathering of evidence needed in order to infiltrate these crime syndicates so that they can be certain the charges stick that are where the resources are most needed.

474..........Jesus....Hope those pieces of **** are locked up for a long time and we all know what inmates do to these guys in prisons..

I see no reason to lock them up. Let's just toss em in a hole and cover it with asphalt.

Well this past year we have ran a dozen icac operations. And our unit was awarded the top icac unit for the state of ga. This award comes from the gbi. We freed ove 2 dozen girls and boys from the sex market and we are very active in the child porn dowloading investigations. We can actually see everyone in the us thats activily downloading, well not everyone but those that are using the top most used programs to download. Unfortunately there is not enough police or hours to arrest them all..

Screw arresting them. Leak that stuff to dad's and let us handle it and just turn a blind eye.

I had to reread that first sentence...I was like...Did misread the title of the thread. Then I read the rest of the paragraph. Haha. But totally agree with you bro!

correct. I do a weekly sting and snag 1-4 guys and Ill have 30 hours of time in in, most of which are my on personal time. then the day of the sting it will be over 150 man hours for the day, easy. Now the bigger operations I do every qtr take a few weeks and we want to get in excess of 20 suspects at a time.

there are 4 people in my unit and on top of working rapes and molestations we each have our specialty area that we hunt pedophiles. One works chat, I work social media adds, one works child porn download, and one works sex trafficking specifically.

well Id love to say that was possible but its not that simple, Ill try to explain. We have 10 officers in our dept. are assigned to work traffic, But writing citations isn't their main function. There primary function is traffic accidents. Periodically, maybe 3 times a year they do DUI checkpoints. So pulling them off the streets to work other cases would leave a vacancy for need of traffic accidents investigations. Other depts. might do things differently but that's how it works here, we don't have officers that there function is to write tickets all day.

how many reports did you have to write about the preditors in two years?

Swing and a miss.

absolutely a swing and a miss...

props to Det Brees - he did work me over pretty good there. Total flop and he more-than-competently responded.

And I enjoyed the response, fwiw. I mean, not the situation that brings this on, but the success of the operations.

And I deserve the red thumbs as well, and the 'swing and a miss' for making a poor comment in a serious thread. Not a good look, not a good choice.

What I should have done, instead, is thank him and, by extension, all of law enforcement on the job they are doing to protect our kids.

I am especially disappointed in myself because after working with so many incarcerated juveniles, I've seen what sexual abuse can lead to and cause in these fragile developing adolescents. It's horribly criminal and the toll it takes on kids can be devastating. And I trivialized it with my pettiness. For all of the negatives I see with law enforcement and youth, this sort of policing is actually a bright spot of their work. And I should be complimentary and thankful for their work in this regard, because it's very tough to do and they are outnumbered and, many times, out-resourced.

I should have been more mindful of that instead of trying to be uncivilly snarky.

No defense, no excuse.

Awful, awful idea by me in the first place. And made even worse by going through with posting it.

at least you're crasping the seriousness of the situation

when I talk about the times I've worked in juvenile custody, one of the questions I get asked the most is what the worst crime I've seen a kid get booked for. It's an easy answer, and it was a 16-year old predatory older brother on his much-younger sister.

He was a very disturbed young man, but I shudder to think what she'll be dealing with growing up.

Not something to make light of at all. So yea, it's serious.

Big of you to to admit your mistake. If more people would be willing to look in the mirror like you did, the world would be a lot better place. Sometimes it's hard to see and catch our own mistakes. Well done.

I"m a firm believer in being barbaric, take them to the zoo and feed the crocs

There are at least a good number of people who study the problem who believe legalizing prostitution actually encourages human trafficking and they point to Germany as the example - where there is some reason to believe there is widespread trafficking of Eastern Europeans.

not saying that is true, just throwing it out there.

I don't buy it, here is why.

The human trafficking laws don't take into account the willingness of the human to be trafficked. Germany, you have a first world country surrounded by European countries with huge economic and socioeconomic problems which leads to a lot of young women that go to Germany to become prostitutes.

It's the perfect storm. Same reason you see high trafficking numbers in California, Southern Texas and along the border towns. Legalization would likely have little impact in those areas but still have a major impact in other areas across the country.

Your worst human trafficking states are by a huge margin, California, Texas and Florida. 3 states located on borders (or in Florida's case coastal access) with big population and a very good economy.

Germany has one of the worlds best economies, a huge population with several massive cities located right next to some of the poorest and most relaxed countries in the world when it comes to the sex trade. Then you have the fact that while prostitution is controlled by the government, corruption has allowed the prostitution business to stay mostly in the hands of organized crime.

Germany is a horrible example to follow because of access from neighboring countries and horrible implementation. Not saying we would do any better, we're plenty good at ******* things up but they certainly aren't the model to work off of.

Would be like making prostitution legal in only San Diego and allowing mexican gangs to control the trade. Damn right there would be major problems.

I'm just a believer anytime you make a black market out of something that has relatively easy access whether it be guns, drugs, vaginas or alcohol it simply backfires. However, making them legal has to be done with strict regulation for it to be effective.

Before someone hops in here and calls me sexist, I do not see women as vaginas but I'm also not so naive to think prostitutes are being paid for conversation.
