I don't think tourists understand that the Quarter is a neighborhood. They think of it as a tourist museum like Williamsburg. Well maybe a little rowdier than Williamsburg, but you get my point.

Well no, but living in the french quarter especially it seems pretty stupid not to have your front door locked.

Clearly most in this thread haven't lived in the quarter. It probably opened straight to the living room, which he was hanging out in, it wouldn't be terribly strange to have the door wide open on a nice day.

Things like this happen in the quarter without 12 gauges being used
