The only thing I don't like about that is it requires that the Rams would rather screw up their playoff position while letting one of their division rivals to get into the playoffs, just to screw the Saints.

That would be like the Saints tanking to Atlanta to keep the Cowboys out of the playoffs while letting Atlanta in. I just don't see the Rams motivation there.

I think the simpler answer is that the Rams choked.

Too bad the NFL forgot that.

They really haven't. I know the rule changes since 78 have been instituted to open up the passing game,but you still
have to run to win it all. When we won SB 44,we were 6th in the NFL in rushing yards. When you hand the ball off
and face 2nd and 5 options become much easier than facing 2nd and 9. I still agree with Lombardi. Nothing takes
the will out of an opponent more than running the ball down their throat.
