if you could take your wife anywhere for a 5-6 day vacation in early february, where would you go? she's not athletic, loves a good beach and needs warmth. i'm looking at all-inclusives in fiji, and other south pacific islands. i'm budgeting around 8-10 grand and including BobE and Andrus as travelling mates---providing they byob

If you can endure the flight time....Tahiti.
you would want the southern hemisphere due to opposite seasons to northern.

Yep. Pacific islands or the Caribbean. South of France is nice - Med side or ocean side (Biarritz) - I was there in the cooler months and it was nice.

Travel time to the south Pacific if you only have 6 days is brutal.

With that budget, you can hit the best of the best in Mexico or the Caribbean with money left over. With a limited time frame, that's the best bang for your buck IMO.

We're going to Punta Cana, DR in March to an all inclusive resort and it's only costing us $500.00 per person.

New Zealand is nice too. It's got a lot more then just beaches, topographicly, if your into the outdoors

That's a huge budget for 5-6 days. Where are you flying from? With 5-6 days available, I would head to British VI's or St. Johns in the USVI and find a place on the beach vs' a view up in the mountain tops. Kauai would be my choice if you could stretch the time out.

yeah, but spending 1/4th of your vacation in transit?

got that right----i can only take a week off at a time and never two weekends in a row---gonna need a day at home to recoup before returning to the grind, hence 5 or six days.

flying from detroit or cleveland

i'm really leaning toward a glass bottomed hut somewhere in the pacific---

$8-10k and you could live like royalty in Vietnam or India...

If you think it could be an option, i'd check out AirBnB.I've used the service 4x so far and swear by it. Crazy cheap prices and lots of locations that are a lot better than any resort..check out some of these listings, for example:

This floating house seems nice as well

Just may be worth considering if you'd like to save lots of $$$ and still get an incredible bang for your buck.
