The Alliance of American Football was suddenly shuttered on April 3 after controlling owner Thomas Dundon choosing to suspend operations. His decision put hundreds of players back on the street, many of them NFL veterans who were working towards a return. Some of them have already landed with NFL teams, like quarterback Garrett Gilbert (with the Cleveland Browns) and wide receiver Rashad Ross (with the Carolina Panthers). TE Thomas Duarte, Arizona Hotshots
Duarte put on 15 pounds to play tight end after leaving the college ranks as a wide receiver prospect. He made the most of his limited opportunities in the AAF, catching 8 of his 12 targets for 111 yards. He scored a touchdown or two-point attempt on three of those catches. Duarte proved he can get upfield in a hurry and make some difficult catches. The Saints should give him a shot as their third tight end behind Jared Cook and Josh Hill.
