This year’s NFL draft is more divisive than ever, with teams unable to collect the usual data points through extensive interviews and private workouts. That means that grades are all over the places outside the top tier of prospects, which are expected to include fifteen or twenty consensus picks to top the 2020 draft class.

However, that lack of broader agreement around the league could benefit the New Orleans Saints. If other teams grade lesser prospects higher than New Orleans, an elite option might fall to them at No. 24. That’s happened before when the team landed Wisconsin tackle Ryan Ramczyk, a top-fifteen prospect on their board who went on to earn All-Pro recognition.

But what if history doesn’t repeat itself? The Saints might find themselves on the clock with only second-tier prospects available. Clear-cut first-rounders like Patrick Queen, Kenneth Murray, Jordan Love, and A.J. Terrell have been popular Saints picks in recent mock drafts, but that doesn’t guarantee they will be available on Thursday night.
