The Butterfly effect proposed by this USA Today article is outstanding.

So what if we had stayed put and not moved up for Davenport? Potentially landing a TE (which was a need) in Mark Andrews. We don’t sign Cook and he doesn’t fumble the ball against the Bucs. Imagine what Brees could have done with that guy as a TE.

Makes me dislike trading up more than ever. Great what if question...

You want a Butterfly Effect: what IF Brees signs with Miami back in 2006?
That is one of the best what if questions because Saban said that if they were to land Brees then he would have drafted Patrick Willis and Steve Smith in that 07’ draft. Saban said they had already been working on that 07’ draft board

Alabama also interviewed David Cutcliffe and Greg Schiano before hiring Saban so I’m not sure who Bama would have hired because Rich Rod picked Michigan over Bama that year

Trading up for a non-QB from a non-P5 school should always be a no no.
