This was what Charles Robinson wrote before the game last Saturday:

10. New Orleans Saints (6-4) – The Saints are starting to wilt under the sudden playoff expectations. And coach Sean Payton might want to strive for a little more balance considering he supposedly has two marquee running backs (Deuce McAllister and Reggie Bush) on the roster. Quarterback Drew Brees is on pace to throw over 600 passes this season. That's a recipe for a dead arm in the playoffs.

Is that true his arm will tire out by that time if the Saints make the playoff?

I wouldn't go that far to say that. I would however like to see the Saints run more than they have. For the most part, they did run Deuce 20X so that's an improvement.

Not only is it not true, its ridiculous.

Quarterbacks throw a lot during the week in practice. It makes little difference if they throw 40 times in a game or 20, they will throw many more during the week. If their arm is tired, they can just throw less during the week.

A dead arm from throwing 600 passes in a season, half of which are little screens to Bush? This is really nonsense. A major league pitcher throws hard on every throw and can throw 100 or more pitches a game for a whole lot more games.

The saints might indeed struggle in the playoffs, but the dead arm theory is as dumb as I have heard.

Garbage statement. It's never been an issue with any other QB in the past. This isn't baseball. Rich Gannon threw 618 times on the way to his only Super Bowl appearance. And at age like 38.

Yeah, it looked like it barely had a pulse yesterday. Writer: :moran:
