I know PFF's grading isn't exactly a science but we all know how mightily Crawley has struggled. Also living here in NY, Apple has been much improved so this is an upgrade.

Also, Ridley last night was held to 5/43. Apple was on him mostly.

Yeah, and this either proves one of 2 things.

1) PFF rankings are complete bunk, because if you believe Apple is on Lattimores level than well I don’t know what to say.

2) Our issues with the secondary are more based on the system and communication with the zone. Putting a different young corner who has issues being coached into that system could very well be a recipe for disaster.

Nobody understands how PFF comes up with these grades but I do know this, when the grades are favorable to our players then it's the stone cold truth. Can't argue with facts.

But PFF grades can be totally ignored and dismissed if they don't support my argument or the current groupthink.

Shhhhh. Be careful Drago. The truth will not set you free here. Lol

Okay... I'm in!

Bingo. People wanted Gregg Williams to come back and coach this defense, well Allen comes from his coaching tree and is the closest we'll ever get to Gregg 2.0.

I fear down the road, we are truly going to regret passing on Wade Phillips not once, but TWICE. Had the chance before he went to Denver and then another chance before he joined the Rams.

I am a big believer in PFF grades because the opinion tends to be truthful. Yesterday made me start to question it though.

Every week they have an article dedicated to each game called “Refocused”. Below is what they said about Lattimore.

Marshon Lattimore had easily his best game of the season, as he was targeted six times and only allowed one catch for 11 yards (although he also added a pass interference penalty). He broke up three of those six targets and could have had two picks on the day if it weren’t for drops.“

Somehow, whoever did the actual grades for the game must not agree as Lattimore has an overall game grade of 59.8, which is considered below average. His coverage grade is even worse at 58.4. I honestly feel like emailing them for an explanation. I’m guessing the two dropped INT’s and penalty made his grade below average lmao.

If Apple plays like Latt then I am all for this. Put Crawley in the slot and let's roll.

If/when Apple takes Crawley's spot, then I think that Crawley goes to the bench and PJ Williams will take the slot.

oof. that makes no sense.

Today has been disappointing. The trade was great....my mistake was coming to the board and seeing all the buzzkill posts.

I applaud the FO for AT LEAST trying to make our defense better!! Even if Apple is a slight upgrade over Crawley, we HAD TO HAVE another veteran cornerback to complete this Super Bowl run. Especially if........ I am NOT going to finish the sentence. Your hint is... Going to see a "specialist" in the medical field....

Honest question. Do you think Payton is dumb? That he can't see the communication issues? Yet, he made this trade for a reason.

Not trying to be a smart arse, but what you guys aren't taking into account is that having Apple, who has proven he can play decent man coverage, may allow Allen to do some different things that lead to better results. Who's to say that he'll just keep doing the same thing with Apple now in the fold?

Also, Allen is basically nothing like Gregg Williams. Allen blitzes at one of the lowest rates in the league and plays a ton of zone. I wish he were more like Williams.
