Dude was supposed to be the next big thing in regards to head coaches. Maybe team executives will slow down on bringing in guys who look like they came right out of high school to coach their team.

He was the young upstart coaching phenom and teams have attempted to replicate him (ie Arizona). Once NFL coaches saw his play calling over a period of time they have figured out how to counter him. To that he has yet to find an answer!

Does McVay still try to read the defense for Jared Goff? If so, have other teams done something to disrupt that?

Jared Goff still not being able to read NFL defenses would explain a lot.

I'm in wait and see mode. A lot of people were saying the same about Payton in 2007 and 2008. He's now the second longest-tenured and easily second-best coach in the league.

McVay has stumbled, but coaching is about learning from your mistakes, evolving and getting better. We'll see how he learns from his teams struggles.

Meh...I don't agree on the comparison. The Saints didn't go out and basically put together a pro bowl team for Sean Payton in 2007 like the Rams did for McVay.
