The Athletic's Larry Holder, the pool reporter for New Orleans Saints games at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, interviewed Al Riveron, the NFL's senior vice president of officiating, about the no-call on the final play of the Minnesota Vikings' 26-20, overtime win over the Saintson Sunday, Jan. 5. Kirk Cousins connected with tight end Kyle Rudolph on a 4-yard touchdown pass and it appeared Rudolph extended his arm to gain separation from Saints cornerback P.J. Williams.
Holder: "What did you see on the final play to uphold the call on the field?"
Riveron: "We looked at all of the angles that Fox afforded us, and Fox gave us some great views. There is contact by both players, but none of that contact rises to the level of a foul. This is consistent with what we have done all year long, we left the ruling on the field. We let it stand." ...
