ALERT: Loomis on Sirius NFL Radio in 10AM hour {merged} (1 Viewer)

Wow, obviously I'm no doctor, but that seems like a really fast recovery for MM. Especially with all of the turning and planting that a CB has to do.

Vilma is high character guy, serious about football and his preparation. Fits in with the mindset of the rest of team.

Can never have enough linebackers. They thought Simoneau played very well, the coaches would agree that he played the best out of all the linebackers last year. Intention was all along to bring him back. Can play multiple positions, will be valuable to team.

McKenzie had a good repair on the knee, spoke w/ therapist yesterday. Excellent report, thought he'd be at full speed at training camp. He's very diligent w/ rehab. Was one of the best CBs in league, had his best year ever.

Jason David - second half of the season his play improved. Struggled because of difference in style of defense from Indy.

Randall Gay - was really excited to play for Saints, fan all his life. Been in SuperBowl twice, championship w/ LSU. Smart, dependable, relatively young...that attracted them to him.

Faine - the economics were too big for Saints. Very confident in J. Goodwin to step in and start.

Deuce - Working with same therapist as McKenzie. Deuce is ahead of Mike, he's running. He should be ready for mini-camp and OTAs.

Everyone was very surprised with start of last season. Credit to the character of players that they were able to fight back into the playoff picture. Feels very good about the overall team right now.

Bush - been a very productive player for the team over the last couple years. The receptions and rushing..although not to the level that people expected. Reggie is determined to improving his rushing. Would be surprised if Bush doesn't have a great season.

Meachem - Did not expect him not to play at all rookie year. Was out of shape in offseason, the knee scope was unexpected which set him back so much he wasn't able to catch up. He is determined to 'right the ship' this season. He sought out Patten and has been working with him every day. Patten says he was a good pick and he will turn it around this season.

In free agency players always cost more than you expect. You end up with 1 or 2 players less than you hoped for. You make up for it in the draft, or wait for the secondary market.

On Shockey - Can't speak about another team player that's under contract. Really good player, any team would love to have him. Respects the Giants org very much, wouldn't want to comment.

Trent Green - they are looking at QB position. Been lucky Drew hasn't been injured. If they could talk Green into coming in with the team, it would be a big plus. Aren't unhappy w/ Jamie Martin at all.

He said Mike M could be ready for training camp which is huge!!!! I couldn't catch the whole thing though....

im excited... cant wait to see MM and DDDEEEEEUUUUUUCCCCCCEEEEEEE. i wasnt able to cheer for him this year since i went to eagles and falcons in the dome :( i saw MM get hurt, that was horrible.

~ Important to retain core players. Feels we were largely successful in this with a few more to go.

~ Helping defense a goal. We missed on Vilma when he was drafted but we were able to get him after all. Schein says Vilma 'glowing' about playing in NO. Schein gives more love for Vilma-to-Saints trade. Discussed the knee and that they were aware of that before the draft. There is some risk but the potential reward made the move make sense. He's a leader from pee-wee to the Jets. Just need to get him healthy.

~ Saints were not unhappy with Simoneau and even said he was the team's best LB (?!). He has value as a starter that can play multiple positions and contrib on special teams.

~ CBs: Schein loves the Gay signing thinks we addressed a need. MM update: doctor (or trainer?) will be ready for training camp full speed. Schein "OH WOW!". Jason David, feels play improved later in the season and believes that the scheme had a hand in his early struggles. Gay is from the area, loves the Saints, excited to be here, has a history of success and has skills.

~ Faine: A good leader so the loss will be felt. Couldn't justify the economics to keep him though. Luckily we have a good backup, (I think he said Jonathan Sullivan I presume he meant Goodwin) Salty that Faine went to a Div rival.

~ Deuce: Ahead of MM in rehab, he's running and feels strong. Will most likely be ready for mini-camp.

~ 2007 Season: headed into 2007 season felt good after a good pre-season but got behind quick with a poor start. Disappointed in the end result

~ Reggie: Feels RB has been productive though not up to the hyped expectations
. he's returning this season a man on a mission

~ Meachem: Lots of joking about not seeing Meach once. Showed up out of shape and unexpectedly injured. Set him back so far he couldn't catch up. Says he looked good in the last couple practices. He's determined to fight back this season and has something to prove.

~ Balance in personnel decisions: Exercise in managing resources. Must be judicious in draft pick usage. FO is laying low not too eager to strike. Sounds like looking for best-bang-for-the-buck players.

~ Shockey: Can't talk about another team's player under contract.

~ Green: Came for a visit. martin good backup. Been lucky with Brees' health. Expressed interest in TG but said they aren't unhappy with Martin.

More love for the Saints in 2008. Schein proclaims he's feeling the itch of Saints-itis. Solly observes that Schein gets Saints-itis very easily :D

If that's true then the coaching staff FAILS.

this is music to my ears

Good to hear about DOOOOOCE and even better to hear about MM.

They knew all along that Meach wouldn't play last year. So, it wasn't cause he's a bust pick. It was the coaches that kept him on the sideline.

Very encouraging news:9: Thanks for the recap.

Because he was out of shape and had a pre existing knee injury that needed a scope which could result in a busted pick.

Thanks to Furor and others for the recaps!

Wow, I had no idea that Deuce and MM were that far along in their rehabs, that's great news. This should give the FO more flexibility in free agency and the draft.
