If he's all-pro, why do they want to get rid of him?

Packers released LG Josh Sitton.
This one is a head-scratcher. Although he's now on the wrong side of 30, Sitton has been a second-team All Pro each of the past three seasons, and hasn't missed a game since 2011. He was Pro Football Focus' No. 5 overall guard last year. The move saves $6.85 million, but if the Pack were interested in saving cash, it's unclear why the move wasn't made in the spring. Sitton won't take long to find a new home. Sep 3 - 2:35 PM

Played RG for the first 5 years of his career and switched to LG in 2013. Pro Bowler at both I believe.

PFF rated him as the best pass-pro guard last year. Can play right or left guard, and has been successful at both. He should be signed to replace Barnes at the very least.

I'm not to sure maybe they want to go younger? I think they might of drafted a guard in the draft. You think we're going to offer ?
If he's good, healthy and we can get 3 or 4 more years out of him, I think it's a no brainer.

How often is the injury status of the player not mentioned in these 'player we heard of that might be available' discussions?

Basically a guy who can't get healthy in time to fit the team timetable will be removed and replaced.
