NEW ORLEANS — When VFL Alvin Kamara entered the National Football League with the New Orleans Saints, no one knew quite what to expect.
Sure, Kamara had talent and he was one of the Southeastern Conference’s more versatile running backs.
While in college, then-UT head coach Butch Jones did not use Kamara as a feature back with the Vols. When Kamara arrived in the Big Easy, Saints coach Sean Payton, one of the NFL’s most innovative offensive play callers, had no such problems.
In fact, Payton made Kamara a star and the Tennessee product was offensive Rookie of the Year.
In two seasons with the Saints, Kamara has totaled more than 3,100 yards and scored 32 touchdowns.
Still, the one-time Tennessee star, who shared running back duties with Mark Ingram (now in Baltimore), is looking for more.
