The public skepticism and vitriol surrounding New Orleans Saints offensive lineman Andrus Peat peaked in late August.
A first-round pick in 2015, Peat struggled as a rookie and didn't clearly earn a position for much of the 2016 offseason. Coaches wanted him to play right guard, but he looked uncomfortable on the right side after playing left tackle at Stanford.
Peat looked good at left tackle in training camp, but Terron Armstead was obviously going to fill that spot when he returned from injury.
The offensive line struggled the first three games of the preseason, and Peat's struggles were a big reason for the issues. When coach Sean Payton said on Aug. 29 Peat could move to left guard, it seemed to be an admission that the plan at right guard failed.
