Rankins + Davison will improve our Run D when he returns. Rankins has more range outside of the tackle box than either Fairley or Davison has and while Fairley has been stout within the tackle box not much from him on runs away from him. Kenny was also talking about guys not playing the right leverage and while this could mean the DBs as far as technique he could easily have been talking about Fairley here too.

It won't help the edge run defense much which is a diff issue but moving forward the Combo of those two will be something to watch.

Shocked that Crawley had good position on the TD but failed to locate the ball. Kid has played well overall considering he's a rookie FA but he absolutely has to get better at finding the ball in the air. It's cost us numerous games now.

Like I've been saying this season is about identifying the guys to build around, and the guys to move on from.

This entire draft class has shown something and I can't wait to see if Lasco can add to that.

We really need to get Anthony going. He would add so much more range/speed in edge run defense just by being the fastest guy out there.

Paramount that we add a CB in FA. Some money should definitely go there and getting a legit RDE in the draft would go a long way too. Our top 4 CBs should be Breaux/FA signing/PJ Williams/Sterling Moore...easily.

So what I gather is that the 3 main plays that cost the Saints the game, 2 had mistakes by a rookie UDFA forced to play #1 CB due to injury and the other was due to a whiff on a tackle by a guy who has been a bad FA bust and who's replacement has already been drafted and whom he's already been benched for once this season.

Now I know that the Chiefs were missing 2 of their best players in Huston and Charles. But by all rights, the Saints should have beaten a "good" AFC team on the road.

Next year, they will.

I would LOVE to see Lasco be the "slashing" type RB who only gets 14 carries a game, but is really nice in the pass game. He has the athleticism and size to be a true #1 back in a Payton offense.

Players to build around, you ask? Well, there are 6 vital NFL positions where you have to have elite (or really darn close) talent to compete for Super Bowls: QB, LT, WR, Pass rusher, DT, & #1CB. Thankfully, the Saints have 5 out of 6 taken care of. Heck, they even have a backup plan at DT, LT, and WR!

They really need Anthony to make strides during the rest of this season. You need 2 LB's. Robertson is one, Anthony has way too much physical talent to not be the other. At least on passing downs in SOME way or another.

Based on the last 10 games of this year, I foresee a VERY focused free agency period by Loomis and Payton this offseason.

1. Pass rusher HAS to be #1. You have to win 3rd and 4th down in this league, and our defense simply doesn't.
2. Oline - Fill whatever spot the Armstead/Peat mix and match game leaves open. You may need as many as 2 starters here at RG & RT. Strief and Evans may be kept for depth/experience, depending more on health/cost than performance. But either way, I don't see relying on both of them to start in 2017.
3. Another vet CB to compete. Maybe for the #2, or nickle or dime, or whatever. Either way, they have the choice who to target here and in what price range due to Breaux having the #1 spot handled. That is a HUGE luxury.

After those spots, you are flexible. A younger Hightower replacement. Sprinkle in some specialty LB's. A Josh Hill replacement perhaps? But what's great is that these types of players aren't "musts" and as such can be targeted for the draft.

This is going to be a wonderful offseason!

Crawley is a rook, and only 23 YO to boot. He's usually in good position, which is more than half the battle. His ball skills are there, he's just not confident about when to use them. He will learn when to track the ball and when not to. I think he will be a solid CB we can count on next year. That's not much help this year though!

David Onyemata and Vonn Bell deserve more playing time than John Jenkins and Jairus Byrd. We need to get healthy on the offensive line. Mark Ingram only runs hard if his backup does. Coby Fleener is table butter soft.

Our rook CB need to put on some muscle. These guys are slightly built. Webb, Breaux, and Moore all have some size to them.

I'm not disagreeing that Crawley has played better than could be reasonably expected, but it's Week 8. He HAS to start getting his head turned around.

I wont ever trust this man simply bc he pronounces his last name like "Ben-oyt". Good tweets tho.

Lol -- I once worked with a woman named Jeansonne in New York who pronounced her name "Gene-sun" -- yeah, it was her name, but I spent three years (unsuccessfully) trying to convince her to pronounce it "right".
