The Carnival Dream out of Florida is stuck in port in Philipsburg, St. Maarten. Carnival will be flying all of the passengers back to Florida.

Yep, another generator/propulsion failure.

"During regularly scheduled testing of the ship's emergency diesel generator, a malfunction occurred," Carnival said in a statement.
"While personnel continue to work on the technical issue we are making arrangements to fly all guests home via private charter flights and scheduled flights from St. Maarten. Guests on the current voyage will receive a refund equivalent to three days of the voyage and 50 percent off a future cruise.

I wonder how many folks will just pass out on the take-off from Philipsburg?

And having been to St. Maarten, I can think of worse places to be stranded. Like out in the open ocean for instance ( per Carnival- been there, done that )

I'm set to leave out of New Orleans on Monday for a 5 night cruise with Carnival. Hopefully, it won't happen a third time!

Wasn't there a cat lady that loved St. Maarten that used to frequent here?

I'd still cruise... prices should begin dropping soon :)

Just not on Carnival. Royal Caribbean just sent us a free 4 night cruise. Now, they have sent us $200.00 on board credits before but never an actual free cruise. Not going to use it because the suite upgrade is about $2000 and we just took one in December. We have never taken a cruise that wasn't a suite simply because I love having a large balcony and more space to move around.

I suspect with customer confidence in cruising currently on the downswing there will be some deals popping up.

You can send me the free cruise. I've been all over the ship. I don't care Lol.

If it was transferable I'd be happy to do that. I think they sent it to us because we are both VIP with Casino Royale. The best thing about that....free drinks in the casino on the ship which as anyone whose ever cruised knows are the biggest part of your bill when it comes time to settle.

I am only 5 cruises down. My wife has 2. So I have a bit to go. They've all been Carnival though and I was thinking of going Royal next time around. Try something new and maybe less kids running around wild.
