Another mock draft (1 Viewer)

:9:
this guy pulls no punches....i haven't had much many opportunities to watch Jackson but the BCS game is going to get TEVO'ed by every fan in the country...should be burner.......thanx for the link

With that mock I see NE trading with Carolina and Baltimore trading down as well.

I agree NE will go after CB before taking a LB.

110 days, 8 hours, 27 minutes and 40, 39, 38, 37, 36, 35, 34, 33, 32...

If we draft a free safety with the holes on our team it would be suicide. Yes we can use some improvement, but even the best safeties in the game don't have enough impact. Bullocks/Harper are serviceable, and FS & SS have been easy to find in the 2nd / 3rd rounds. With the #10 pick it can only be three positions...CB, MLB, DT, OLB.

Anything else will be another blow to this teams future. We have the worst starting corner in the NFL, and a good corner who may not be back for the start of the season. Our #3 was the worst starter in the NFL 2 years ago. I wouldn't be mad if we picked CB in rounds 1,2,3

Did you watch the Redskins game? Landry was a game changer. If the Redskins had a QB, they would have won that game.

:worthy: I couldnt agree more. If we wait until the third round to pick a CB, someone should be fired, regardless of who we pick up in FA

Really? If the Saints walk away from FA, for example, with Marcus Trufant and possibly
Drayton Florence you'd still want a CB in the first two rounds?

You're completely out of sync with the direction the NFL is taking. The reason why safeties have become Top Ten fixtures over the past few years is because their importance has become much more significant (particularly with teams using more and more Cover-2 type coverages). Further, it's a lot easier to get a rookie safety up to speed and for him to have an immediate impact then say at CB.

If you're looking for "immediate impact" from a rookie you're looking at LB or S, not CB or DT.

Beyond which, our defensively line, as a group, is much stronger then our defensive backfield. Not that i'm opposed to drafting a defensive linemen, I just find it odd you'd be ok with drafting a defensive tackle but opposed to taking a Safety.

What I can't understand is how did we get to pick at #10? I got us going at least 14. I'll take 10 though. No way we can screw this draft up. All good need positions at 10.

damn - i could totoaly see bengals taking the hometown LB-looks like we might have to trade up to 9.

If the Saints are agressive in FA then the safety just might be the BPA on the board when the Saints pick, who knows but one thing I do know (and David Robbins) is safeties have a huge impact in the game. There are many that change games. Bob Sanders changes games, Leron Landry changes games, Ed Reed changes games, etc.... the drafting and scouting of potential draftees needs to be under the microscope more than anything because there have been more misses than hits in the draft.

Bullocks is far from serviceable. He is the reason the secondary has been swiss cheese the past two years. Harper is serviceable as a SS and is improving slowly. Since when is any position easy to find in the 2 or 3d round of the draft?

I would be highly surprised if McKenzie is back by the start of the year or even the middle of the year. If it takes a running back a full year to recover how does anyone feel that a CB in his 30s is going to be back in less than a years tme and providing support to the secondary. I hope they make a huge push to go after a main player in the secondary during FA.

If that was the case then Bullocks, a 2d round pick, would be the player everyone wishes he would be.
