Change isn't a bad thing. It also doesn’t mean change defaults to being good. How the vacancies are filled will determine how these decisions are ultimately viewed. Detractors will point out that the team cycled through defensive coordinators before bringing back Dennis Allen. But the team's success in adding position coaches, most recently secondary coach Aaron Glenn, could be a reason for optimism.

Assuming the right people are brought in, some new blood might help. Having new people means new voices, new techniques and new ideas. And after losing a few games on special teams this year — and another year of the defense finishing near the bottom of the league — that can’t be a bad thing.

To me the firing of Payton's coaching buddies further indicates the team has gone "all in" for 2017. This is a make or break season for the way the team, coaching, and management is currently structured. If they produce another 7-9 snooze feast I expect there will be major changes from top to bottom.
