what did it entail to get on ballot? 4 spots up for election here, i'm thinking of looking into it. I'm sure it requires X number of signatures or something first (something I can't do), but i'm just curious.
Yeah, the laws for local elections are all going to be specific to where you are. Probably the best starting point is your state's Secretary of State page. They usually run the state election process and have links to the county/parish/city stuff where appropriate. Elections & Voting has info for potential candidates about state laws / processes in Washington, and http://www.kingcounty.gov/elections/candidatefiling.aspx for King County, including City Council seats within the county. Even for as big a city as Seattle, the only requirements are filling out all the disclosure forms and declaring, paying a filing fee of 1% of the salary the office pays annually. Your state/county/parish probably has something similar.
