How many additional draft picks (if any) do we have after the trading & former players signing on elsewhere?

The answer may be none, but I figured some of you might be way out in the deep water on such details ...to set the record straight.

Thanks.

At the moment it'll likely be a 4th round pick for Bushrod as he's been signed to an almost identical deal to what we gave Ben Grubbs last year and Baltimore will receive a 4th round compensatory this year . But it'll be next year.

However if we replace him with a FA and give them a similar contract then we'd receive nothing in compensation.

The round of the pick awarded is primarily determined by the annual value of the contract signed. Signed players cancel out lost players with equal contracts, then lower contracts, before canceling out higher contracts.

For this years draft the Saints might get a 4th or 5th compensatory from last years FA. We won't see anything from this years until the 2014 draft.

My understanding is that if we do not replace Bushrod with a free agent and choose to stick with Charles Brown or draft his replacement, we may be looking at. 4th rounder in 2014.

We will get no compensatory picks this year. Zero. None.

Free agent doesn't have to be at the same position.

We've lost two free agents. If we sign three in the next few weeks, at any price and any position, we will receive no compensatory selections. We can sign one player max and expect any compensatory selections next year. Who we sign and for how much will adjust what level of compensation.
