Are you happy with the interim’s three wins and lower draft position? (33 Viewers)

I don't object to giving guys 2nd chances, and CSP endorsed him (which in hindsight was probably meaningless) but after the disaster of the 1st season I can't believe Loomis stuck with him.....that was some of the worst HCing I've ever seen and I lived through the Saints in the 70's.....

A Jim Mora offensive philosophy without any of the preparation, discipline or culture....on either side of the ball.....
I agree. I was okay with him getting the job in the interest of continuity, but when they regressed his first year it became clear that was a mistake. I know there is a concern that it looks bad when teams fire coaches after one year, but it was merited and would have been the right decision.

"but, but, but....those guys weren't the right picks for those slots."

EXACTLY! While Leinart, Young & Cutler were being drafted with higher picks, better players were sliding down to lower slots. Happens EVERY...DAMN...YEAR! I didn't know about the Washington 1st rounders, so that's interesting....if memory serves correctly, those picks were all pretty high 1sts too; how many were top 5? surely most of them were top 10, i'd think? Washington is one of those teams I was thinking of in my post earlier in this thread, so thank you for the additional empirical evidential support!

The draft is a bit of a crapshoot....always has been, always will be. An argument could be made for an "educated crapshoot", but still a crapshoot, nevertheless. Drafting higher guarantees NOTHING! It's WHO you pick, not WHERE you pick 'em. I'm with you SS!
All one has to do is look at the Packers. They have been fortunate with the most important position. They've
been contenders for 30 years running. How did they get these Qb's?

Brett Favre- 2nd rd pick by Atlanta and acquired in a trade

Aaron Rodgers - selected 24th in 2005 draft. #1 overall that year was Alex Smith. Who's the better QB?

Jordan Love- selected 26th in 2020. His story isn't finished, but it's looking like The Packers struck gold again.

I would normally vote for tank but I don't have faith in this front office draft prowess at this point so whatever.

Theres no one in the draft really that would cause me to tank, and a top 10 pick just means Loomis woud trade away the following years 1 and our next 45 2-4th round picks to move up to 9, and then 6 and back to 8 and in some way the Eagles would end up with that pick anyway and we would take Tom Denny from East South Texas Baptist Christian College with the 17th pick. Wins are fine this year. Doesnt make us good, doesnt change the direction we need to go.

Merl still around disliking posts.

If you want to go back and look at all the posts that have been right the past few years, just filter them by posts disliked by Merl. There is no more credibility on this board than a post disliked by Merl.

If someone ever posts lottery numbers and I see a Merl dislike, Im heading to circle K.

Happy Holidays Merl

Fire Loomis.

Yup, DA was historically bad.....he showed us who he was in his 1st season....

Anyone who spouts garbage like this really hasn't been paying attention.....It's the NFL, anything can happen, every game is its own story.....no one knows, though there always seems to be folks who think they do.....
It's over my guy.

Why? Just curious.
Any draft pick, even a Top 5 pick, is still a crap-shoot like gamble. I'd much rather shoot for a however unlikely it might be a chance to win the division and get at least an extra week of cheering on the Saints in the playoffs than give that up for what could end up being a solid player or just as likely could end up just another draft bust.

This draft especially. Travis Hunter is the best player, but he may not be picked #1 depending on how the draft falls.
The players ranked behind him have question marks.

Bump. Still glad we won those games? Probably one of the worst teams in the league but picking 10th.

Yes. Very happy. Why do you ask?
Why?

So you'd rather 3 absolutely meaningless wins than actually having better draft capital to turn the franchise around?

Not one single win this season after the Dallas game means anything.

Sorry, I just don’t approach life with that loser mentality. And hindsight “what ifs” are a waste of time.
