This guy is a play maker. It would be great to hear that the Saints are working on a long term deal for Lattimore, Ramczyk, or Williams to clear some cap space. Hick's cap space if acquired would only be $2 million this year and let's say a 4th round draft pick as compensation for him. He isn't quite as fast as Kwon, but he makes plays just the same.

I would’ve made a trade the second he requested one. Although, we know we won’t even make a call.
He has permission to call the Saints himself if he wants to. And he or his agent almost certainly has since he and Malcolm Jenkins have a history together. Whether or not the Saints think he’s worth giving up anything to get him is another story.

This is true, but a player of his caliber, with that contract, at a position of need, is something that you don’t wait for a player to initiate a possible trade. We should be on it. And before anyone says anything about LB being a position of need. It’s still DD and a bunch of question marks. Regardless of who was drafted, where they were drafted, and when they were drafted.

There are no quick fixes in rebuilding a roster outside of drafting well, so every time a player comes available it does not mean the Saints should mortgage their future (draft picks) on a player because a Team wants to move on from him and the Saints have supposed "holes" on the roster (according to fans).

This again does not mean the Saints aren't looking at acquiring players because they of course are but I don't think they are going to give away draft picks to fill these voids and are still shopping in the bargain bin to fill holes at DT, CB and possibly LB.

Maybe the staff doesn't feel LB is as much a position of need that you do. Also how much that need may be worth. I don't know. I am always curious why a team would give up on a known commodity. His 2020 numbers were pedestrian.

Until they can get a long term deals in place with Latt, Ram, and Williams, they're really not able to do much of anything right now. The Saints have $2.2m cap space available, Hicks is $5.9m.

We've been generally superb at drafting during the Payton years except for a short stretch in the middle. I would not do anything stupid to "win now" given our uncertain situation at QB. I'd be a buyer, not a seller of draft picks this off season.

I’m confused. What is the goal every year? Is it not to win a title? To me, it looks like almost 80% of this board is singing Winston’s praises. If that’s the case, we have a QB that can get it done. We still have talent on both sides of the ball. Why not add a great piece at a low cost to help get a title? Also, don’t we have two 3rd rd compensatory picks coming our way this year? When did adding a really good young player, on a cheap contract, become stupid or a stupid idea?
