Irresistable force (Saints O) meets immovable object (Ravens D). Good tidbits from a Ravens blog. No smack talk noted; article actually gives Saints some R-E-S-P-E-C-T.

Last week, Baltimore produced their first shutout of the season in a 21-0 defeat of the Tennessee Titans. In that game, eight different players had sacks with all sacks coming from different portions of the defense. Linebackers had eight sacks, with defensive backs having two and Chris Wormleywas the lone defensive lineman with a sack on the day. Though none of the aforementioned players that returned contributed a sack, they all were able to play a key part in Baltimore’s passing defense.

Didn’t read article, but worried about this matchup. Hope i’m wrong but I don’t see this as the time Brees beats Baltimore. I think this will be our 2nd loss.

It will be a GRIND to score points, if we even can. They have the #1 run defense, #2 pass defense, #1 total defense, #1 yards allowed, #1 points allowed and lead the league in sacks.

Plus the wind will be high during the game. We are in for an ugly dog fight. Whatever the O/U is, take the under. Our big advantage is coming off the bye, love that CSP had the extra days to prepare because this will be our toughest game yet

I watched Baldy's breakdowns and the Titans were running deep, long developing routes with no short to intermediate checkdowns, no drags etc. pure insanity. The Saints will run a completely different scheme. If the ball comes out quick we won't have any troubles. Cincinnati moved the ball at will at times a few weeks back

I agree. Look at the teams the Saints have been playing. Only Falcons and Redskins are above avg teams and all teams we have faced (except the Redskins + Browns) had way-below defenses. This match up is not favourable for the Saints. The stats for the first 5 games are useless. The next stretch of 5 games will determine what the Saints team really is made of

Everybody is focusing on the showdown between our O and their D, which will be great TV. We're good enough to score 23-27 points on them.

But the real decider in this game will be our secondary against the Ravens' speedy WR corps. If Flacco can go off like Fitzpatrick (Flacmagic?) then they'll score 28+ and win.

It may come down to who scores the first touchdown. If the Ravens score on a couple of bombs and make us play catch-up then it could be a long day for Brees. But if Crawley holds his own, and we go up early, then our pass rush can take over and shut Flacco down. After he meets Davenport Rankins and Jordan, Flacco's wife will be saying he is as unenthusiastic about throwing passes as he is catching them.

I think it comes down to Saints defense in the first half. The offense will settle in and be able to score. Can the defense keep it in check for a while until they do?

I think coming off the bye goes a long way to neutralizing how the Ravens have been using scheme more than individual performance to be effective on defense. As has been pointed out, the Ravens have been feasting on inexperienced QBs - their numbers aren't as impressive against the pocket passers they have faced (Dalton, Big Ben, and Keenum). And Drew has a quicker release than any of those guys.

I think we're going to see a lot of Ingram and Kamara on the field at the same time, because it forces Ravens into personnel/assignments that can then be exploited with audibles at the line. The Saints are masterful at this and I don't know if the Ravens will have an answer.

But the matchup I'm more curious about is the opposite side of the ball. Brees's numbers in outdoor stadiums drop down to merely above average instead of superhuman, but his road/outside numbers are still better than Flacco's home numbers. The Saints are playing very well against the run and Lattimore has found his bearings in recent weeks. Our pass-rush is on the verge of full break out, so I'm looking forward to seeing whether the Ravens are able to do anything on offense.

It's Captain Obvious, but we could be held well under our output with 21 or 24 points and still have a solid chance of winning. The wind will be blowing the same for the Ravens as it will for the Saints - and the Saints are better running the ball than the Ravens are.

The thing that jumped out at me was it said Brees is #16 in yards this season. While this is true, that stat doesn't take into account the bye weeks. He's #4 in YPG which is a better measure of production until all teams have their bye week.

Don't get me wrong I do hope they play him like the #16 passer.

And he's #1 in completion percentage and #1 in QB Passer Rating.

We are going to totally throw them off.... We will run the ball all day in heavy sets, and sprinkle in screens and play-action.

We''ll end up like 65% run in this game and blow them out. They'll be in nickle / rush defense all day wondering what happened.

Book it.

Something that hasn´t been mentioned that often is that Flacco is particularly bad at passing under pressure. The emergence of Davenport last week is super important in this regard. The d-line pressure will be key in this game.

They got 11 sacks n could only muster 21 pts. Don't know why some of y'all are overrating them. They're solid but let's not pretend they're as good as we can be
