Article on top OT prospects for 2010 (1 Viewer)

I can see the Saints trying to trade the rights to Brown for a 2nd and maybe a project DT or Tackle. I'm sure there are teams that would be willing to take him and try and work out a long term agreement or just franchise his ***.

At 32, it's possible that the best C or TE will be there in the draft. We could get a really good OLB or RB too. Don't know that we should take a SS that early. As was kind of said, not sure we can get the best DE or OT that late.

Let's enjoy the on season before worrying about the off season.

I believe...

I'd guess our most likely first round targets would be OLB, DE pass rush specialist, or C. I could also see a use for a RT, nose tackle, or a safety only should a stud drop into our laps, since we may have the luxury of drafting players to stockpile talent at key positions long term.

when it comes to protecting the best QB in the league you are worried about the price of one of the best tackles in the league?

Brown deserves whatever he asks for and its not likely we let him go without exhausting every possible contract offer....Brown will be a saint for as long as drew is here

I agree despite the all the rhetoric here Brown is still a much better LT than Bushrod. Brees has been getting a lot more heat from the left DE than he's used to. His time waiting for deep pass patterns to open up has been shortened. Brees has also taken some big shots (he didn't get hit this much in the past). Don't get me wrong, for what he is, an inexperienced third string backup, Bushrod's played well. Good enough to permanently replace a former Pro Bowl LT? Not even close.

And there's one more tiny, little problem with resigning Brown to a big deal.....Jahri Evans is playing on a single year RFA contract. Of the two....Evans>>>>Brown. Evans has come into his own as a complete OG. He should've already been a multiple Pro Bowler but thanks to Cowboy homers he hasn't. Evans should be the team's number one signing priority next offseason.
