One final week of offseason, so why not some last minute speculation?

If you find yourself answering "yes" to this question, the you have to assume that we could be in store for a 2013 type of turnaround for our Defense. We've acquired a veteran nucleus to surround the young promise of last year, as well as adding some new horses to the stable this year.

* Cam is a stud
* Breaux is a stud
* This is our best crop of LBs since 2009 (maybe better)
* Fairley is hungry
* Jenkins is in a contract year and seems to be finally over that pec injury.
* every one of our safeties could start on an NFL team

My only true concern is going to be th consistency of our young corners, but I'm hoping an improved pass rush (via Kruger), will widen their window of opportunity.

One key advantage Kruger has over Junior is psychological. For all of JG's talent his personal life and issues are entirely self destructive. A damn shame too I think JG is pretty talented but his personal problems and recent injury history seems to have really harmed his career.

Kruger is comparatively pretty boring (a thing you want) and I've never heard anything about him being hard to work with or having personal issues. Honestly the only thing that stands out about his background is the guy's nearly died a couple of times he's both tough and it seems lucky.

I think the defense could surprise some people. They're still young but have a better leadership structure in place. I don't think they'll have any issues being better then last year's tire fire.

Yeah and plus Cam about to switch to galette side and Kruger will be a beast against the run and on passing downs

Are we talking pre or post belt Galette?
Not only that, pre or post blown ACL's.
Kruger can get on the field, JG can't, so from that stand point..Kruger is certainly better.

The worst of our 2 starting corners over the years:

2016: PJ Williams
2015: Browner
2014: Corey White/PRob
2013: Greer
2012: PRob
2011: Porter
2010: Porter
2009: Porter
2008: Randall Gay/Jason David
2007: Jason David
2006: Fred Thomas (in his late years)
2005: Fred Thomas
2004: Fakhir Brown
2003: Dale Carter/Fred Thomas/Ashley Ambrose
2002: Hawthorne/Carter/Irvin
2001: Kevin Mathis
2000: Fred Weary

On defense you are only as good as your weakest link. By that standard if PJ Williams is decent this could be the best Corner tandem we have had this century.

Kruger's biggest advantage is in the Achilles' tendon area. Kruger's Achilles are far superior.

If our defense stays healthy I like that our defense is filled with young and ascending players. Think they will do a lot of growing throughout the season in the right direction. Im concerned about the O-line but the skill position groups I think are set at RB, WR, and TE (like Manhertz potential). Need some o-line help though.

Junior was a great pass rusher. I'd say that Kruger is an above average one...but there is no comparison in run defense. This defense will be stronger this year. Our depth is a bit concerning but assuming we can say healthy...I could see this being 20-25 this year...when compared to the past few years is a monumental improvement.

Junior may have slight edge as a pure pass rusher. But i believe Kruger is the superior player. Kruger is an every down, every situation player, where Junior is more of a pass down specialist.

I think that versatility on both sides is going to be huge. Especially if the big boys hold down the middle. Cam doesn't need a stallion opposite of him, just someone good enough to keep an offense honest.
