At what point was Kamara injured last season ? (1 Viewer)

Once Kamara got his high ankle sprain, he lost his Matrix. Not able to make the first defender miss, and was easily wrapped up.

He still could run forward with power and speed, but lost his cuts and "Jello".

Murray should of been fed the ball. I kept expecting Payton to figure this out, but he never did.

Something must be up with Murray to not be trusted in all those situations.

That's correct. Then in game 8 he hurt his leg which really slowed him down for the remainder of the season. After game 8, he accumulated a number of additional nicks. Bottom-line, he was hurt in game 6 and really banged-up for the remainder of the season. He flat-out toughed it our from game 8 onward. Many players would not have played near as much as Kamara did, or at all.

It’s like he was freaking people in the Seattle game then kind of fell off the map after that.

From about the 5th or 6th game last season the peanut butter was missing the jelly.

He didn't lose too much straight line speed but all the little jukes and shakes that he depends on to make himself seem inhuman was gone and he struggled badly the rest of the season which is normal for a player with the dreaded "high ankle sprain"!

Nothing wrong with Murray at all, it’s Payton that needs his head examined.

You have a guy averaging over 9.1 YPC TWICE and you only give him 7 carries in both those games while simultaneously trying to run the guy with the high ankle sprain through a brick wall with 11 and 13 carries (on top of his 15 additional receiving targets).

It almost cost us the first game against Carolina and it did cost us the game against San Francisco and ultimately the #1 seed.

Murray got the ball plenty when Brees was out. Think he had three 100 yard rushing games or so during that 5 game stretch Bridgewater started.

This goes back to "Was Brees switching out of the run" audible when he came back. Not a coincidence that Murray ran less when Brees came back. Bridgewater wasn't changing plays.

Having Murray run more wouldn't helped Kamara who obviously was hurting.

Interesting thought of what impact it has on oline when you call run in the huddle but switch to pass at the line consistently

seeing as it takes 6-8 weeks for a high ankle sprain to heal somewhat, I have seen players not play anymore that year after suffering one, the fact that he still played is amazing. not sure why Murray wasn't utilized more because he seems very effective when he did play. But it does seems like Coach does have an aversion to mounting a consistent running game when they clearly can do it.

Murray was given only 23 carries from the moment Brees went out against the Rams in Week 2 through the Week 6 game against Jacksonville and gained 92 yards on those carries (4.0 YPC). In that same span, Kamara had 72 carries for 274 yards (3.8 YPC). So I don't think it's much about "Brees changing the play".

Murray's two 100 yard games came in Week 7 against the Bears and Week 8 against the Cardinals (the two games that Kamara missed), one started by Bridgewater and the other being Brees' first game back. He had 27 and 21 carries respectively because Payton had no choice but to feature him and he produced 4.4 and 4.9 YPC and 3 TD's (+1 receiving).

I'd probably wager that the play is changed from a run to a pass far more often when Kamara is in the backfield due to the matchup advantage he potentially has at any given snap as a receiver compared to Murray.

I agree wholeheartedly with your last statement though; running Murray more wouldn't have helped Kamara. However, it would've helped our offense as a whole be more efficient than trying to continuously pound the guy running on one leg and a half.
