At what point was Kamara injured last season ? (1 Viewer)

Murray was given only 23 carries from the moment Brees went out against the Rams in Week 2 through the Week 6 game against Jacksonville and gained 92 yards on those carries (4.0 YPC). In that same span, Kamara had 72 carries for 274 yards (3.8 YPC). So I don't think it's much about "Brees changing the play".

Murray's two 100 yard games came in Week 7 against the Bears and Week 8 against the Cardinals (the two games that Kamara missed), one started by Bridgewater and the other being Brees' first game back. He had 27 and 21 carries respectively because Payton had no choice but to feature him and he produced 4.4 and 4.9 YPC and 3 TD's (+1 receiving).

I'd probably wager that the play is changed from a run to a pass far more often when Kamara is in the backfield due to the matchup advantage he potentially has at any given snap as a receiver compared to Murray.

I agree wholeheartedly with your last statement though; running Murray more wouldn't have helped Kamara. However, it would've helped our offense as a whole be more efficient than trying to continuously pound the guy running on one leg and a half.

Thanks for bringing facts into this discussion.

Anyway this all backs up what I remember which is that pretty early in the year he hurt his ankle and then a few games later hurt his knee also.

But the real reason he wasn't as productive is because he was so emotional and missing Mark Ingram. You guys remember that epic thread???? Lolz.

Kamara got worn down pretty early it's been proven he can't and should not carry the load, he's gave a long and more productive career with a partner or two in the back field, I'd go as far as saying he needs two guys behind him to pound the rock.
