For 6 years our previous coaching staff was enamoured by athletes vs. football players. Size, 40 times, athletic ability, and potential was all they thought of. Look at some of the people we passed on in the draft because of this, and who we drafted. Why did we pass on Chris Gamble? His 40 time? Why did we draft Watson and Cie Grant? Their supposed athletic ability! The biggest blunder that comes to mind is Aaron Brooks, big, strong athletic quarterback. He had all the potential in the world, but on one play he looked like the next coming of something great, then next play he would leave you scratching your head.

New coaching staff comes in and they believe in football players! Exit Brooks and enter in Brees. Drew isn't the biggest, strongest, fastest QB in the league, but he is a football player. His pocket presense is what makes this football team great. Its been a pleasure all year long to see Drew just step up in the pocket and throw the ball when he's getting pressure vs. trying to run around (backwards) trying to outrun opposing defenses, only to get sacked for 10+ yds. Brees' decision making behind center is second to none and its about darn time the Saints can be proud of their QB.

Drew isn't the only signing of a football player this coaching staff has done, but it is by far the biggest and lets hope we can ride him all the way to a Super Bowl Victory!

We drafted Watson because he was (supposedly) a high character guy. That was his reputation out of college.

So Reggie Bush is athletic, but he didn't accel like we expected this season. Sure, he did great this season, but not like his college career. Marques Colston also became a great football player with his toughness and understanding of the game.I guess Colston got this theory before Bush.
