I work for AT&T, we don't have it in our area yet (Jackson, MS) but from what we've been told it will go over the copper lines. That's your regular phone line or fiber if you have fiber to the curb. They're making a big push for it so it won't be years before we start to see it coming to some of the bigger market areas. Right now I think it is in the Dallas/Ft Worth area, Houston and Atlanta from what I know.

Anyone have it yet? I am fed up with Charter here---CBS isn't in HD---and there are only about 15 HD channels..with Uverse you can watch something recorded on a DVR on any of the TV's hooked up to Uverse----anyone heard any bad things about Uverse

Had it in the Woodlands. Moved across town and it was not available. It will be here soon. I will go back to it (for a while) after having Charter and DTV (in Louisiana), Entouch and Comcast (in Houston). Not that it is great, but it is a good solid tv value.

Likes: DVR play back in every room feature with a extra basic box and cost for tv package. Combine Cingular with bundle and get a discount. NFL network (me) and PBS Sprout (kid) was included in the U200 at the time. Same channel list as DTV. Good remote setup.

Dislikes: DSL vs Cable. 1.5 with the basic U200 package. Comcast gives me 6 for the same price. Comcast has stores in the area for problems with boxes, you have to mail everthing back to ATT. Really SLOW guide at times. Controls on the DVR was hard to get used to.

My style is try it for a year then try something else. To be honest, as much as I used to complain about Charter in Louisiana, I really liked their Moxie system I had before I moved. I have been trying to match it ever since and just can't find it with other providers. Maybe its my memory playing tricks on me. I hope this helps some.

The DSL Reports Uverse forum has lots of info if you haven't been there yet. I wish ATT deployed FTTH instead, but I'd settle for a local rollout to speed up Suddenlink's 20+mbps upgrade.

I'd think that the counties going with the county wide wi-fi at 100+MB would be better option than paying att ftth prices. and upgrades.. just my thinking.
i know Gwinnett where i live has been working on doing so. and once it is out, then no more internet fees or a lower rate that shows up in property tax. They enacted a thing with garbage pickup that will have county doing it, which actually drops my bill by ~$7 a month. it drops the waste pickup trucks in neighborhood down from 4 , down to 1. and drops the fuel usage from that as well as you don't have 4 different trucks on the same routes.
i know it feeds into the socialist mentality, but this is one area, that is' a win-win for the people.

edit,: as for uverse , i havent seen it, its not available in my neighborhood. but co-workers that have it love it. except for the fact of you only have so many streams you can use.

Glad to see you embracing socialism. :hihi:

I'm all for municipal FTTH and wireless, but unfortunately Lafayette is the only area of Louisiana that's stepped into the 21st century. We don't even have garbage pickup since the police jury feels trash covered streets are preferable to depriving residents of $8/mo.

The ATTUverse people are pushy. I've had two different people knock on my door and try to hard sale me on getting ATT Uverse. One even went so far as to say my DSL service with ATT needed to be upgraded to Uverse or I would lose connectivity.

I told the gal I didn't have a home phone when she asked (I don't) and she said it was impossible for me to use DSL through ATT without home fone service. I asked her to leave my premises because she had no idea what she was talking about.

My neighbors were strong armed into signing up. They don’t have HD set so not sure.

please call the att customer service line and ask for a supervisor.. report those idiots.

It's a shame that an entire corporation with some great people be ridiculed, because of couple people they used.. and often times the people they have in sales offices are actually employed by another company, that is being paid by att to do sales.

just like when i was working for delta, they had a prob with hp desktops that if used a certain network card will hose one of the servers..
the one person from HP couldnt' figure it out, so they said, even HP couldnt' figure it out.. I guarantee, if that had been sent to a group of engineers that designed the card.. they'd have at least gotten to the reason. if not a solution.
