HAMMOND — A major automaker has a northeast Louisiana location under consideration for a
new assembly factory, with a site decision expected sometime this year, the state's economic
development secretary said.
Stephen Moret was speaking Wednesday in southeast Louisiana, at the Tangipahoa Economic
Development Foundation's annual banquet. He told a crowd of 300 that Tangipahoa Parish's
industrial megasite on Interstate 55 ranks as a major state priority but interest from prospects is
highest in the north Louisiana site, which the state bought for $4.6 million in 2006.
