Hendrix had a righteous wah sound. Zappa's SG through a half-cocked wah was awesome. Nowadays, guys like Satch and Petrucci seem to play through a wah for almost all of their legato passages. I'm also a fan of the Mutron/envelope filter on things like "What I Am" by Edie Brickell and New Bohemians.

You could have and probably should have stopped there. He was the Alpha and the Omega.
