1. MIA - C. Long DE VIRGINIA - Parcells is known for drafting defense. Parcells is also known for drafting players with NFL lineage. Dorsey and Jake Long are tempting here, but I think ultimatley Tuna goes with a guy he can pair up with J. Taylor & create a passrush.
Dallas doesnt have the ammo to trade up, nor does anyone else IMO.
2. STL - G. Dorsey DT LSU - Theyre trying to keep it quiet, but Haslett loves this guy. He previously drafted Claude Wroten in the 2nd in STL and took both Grant & Smith in the 1st round here in New Orleans. Adam Carriker is another DLINE 1st rounder for Haz. Again, Jake Long is tempting as an heir to Orlando Pace, but I say Dorsey.
3. ATL - M. Ryan QB Boston College - has all the tools to be a 12 year starter in the NFL. They want to wipe the slate clean after the Ron "Dog Killer" Mexico fiasco. They need a CB all of a sudden, but taking one here is a silly reach. Ryan is a safe pick and that seems to be the mood in ATL these days.
4. OAK - D. McFadden HB Arkansas - I see too many similarities with Jake Long and Robert Gallery. Long's mediocre footwork may remind Old man Al of him as well. IMO Davis takes this electrifying HB to compliment Justin Fargas. Lamont Jordan will probably be cut before the draft to help with cap room anyway.
5. KC - Jake Long RT - Michigan - Here is the replacement for Willie Roaf. Long is okay in Pass Pro, but he excels as a run blocker. Larry Johnson would benefit greatly.
6. NYJ - Vernon Gholston DE OHIO STATE - this guy is a freak and would make the Jersey Jets fans forget all about losing John Abraham.
7. NE - M. Jenkins CB USF - Lose Asante Samuel, plug in a guy who was recruited by and coached by the same staff. Jenkins has the edge on McKelvin IMO because he's a better football player.
8. NO (From BAL, NO sends their 3rd to BAL (300 points) to move up ) - S. Ellis DT USC - Oh! the humanity of it all!!!!! Ed Ogeron recruited Ellis at USC and putting Ellis in at 3-tech makes Jon Vilma's #s soar. Ellis is explosive as a 300 pound guy gets and closes on the QB like a LB. His slight lack of height is actually an advantage because he wins most leverage battles inside. 32 reps at the combine...sounds like he's stronger at the POA than Jon Sullivan. If We can't trade up, Ellis' teammate Keith Rivers is the next logical choice.
9. CIN - L. McKelvin CB Troy - With Ellis off the board and a few too many LBs on their roster to take Keith Rivers, I say Cincy takes this dynamic return/cover man.
10. BAL - Jeff Otah OT Pittsburgh - swapping picks with the Saints allows the Ravens to select a QB without reaching for him but IMO, with Jonathan Odgen retiring, they need to plug someone in ASAP. Otah is the best OT left at this point.
11. BUF - Desean Jackson WR CAL - Matching this speedy, elusive guy up opposite Lee Evans will give trent Edwards a reliable target on both sides of the field. the presence of Roscoe Parrish makes some say CB, and DRC is a big possibility here also.
12. DEN - Derrick Harvey DE/OLB FLORIDA - This makes sense unless they decide to go offensive line, where Chris Williams and Ryan Clady are big maybes. Limas Sweed may also get some attention.
13. CAR - Jonathan Stewart HB Oregon - Losing Deshaun Foster makes that backfield a little thin with unproven Deangelo Williams as the penciled in starter. Dan Connor is also a possibility here.
14. CHI - Reshard Mendenhal HB Illinois - Local choice fills big hole in Bears Offense.
OT Chris Williams and Ryan Clady are also possibilities as well as Limas Sweed.
15. DET - Dominique Rodgers Cromartie CB Tenn ST. - this guy's stock is soaring. Detroit hasnt had a really good CB in awhile. The 2 OTs above are also possibilities.
16. ARI - Ryan Clady OT Boise ST. - A stud OT is the choice with both top HBs gone. Aquib Talib and Felix Jones are maybes.
