Who is available ?

Ed Reed
Charles Woodson
Bernard Pollard
Kerry Rhodes
Stevie Brown

Love Ed Reed, but is closer to the end of his career.
Stevie Brown is RFA 2nd Round Tender, but young and very talented.

Perhaps a trade with the Giants ?
They lost Bradshaw and might be in the market for help at RB.
Ivory and 2014 Saints 2nd RD Pick for Brown.

We really need what Sharper brought to the table. This guy has the skills.

I wouldnt mind Ed Reed for a 1 yr contract. Thats what we did to Sharper. Signed him to a 1 yr contract the year we won the superbowl

We def need one because we don't have ballhawking safeties right now. With harper and jenkins they won't need to come downhill often just catch the erattic passes that our current players drop every game

Ball hawking will come when we get a passrusher. They go hand and hand.

Logically, yes.

But we do not have any ball hawks in our defensive backfield.

Harper can catch maybe 1 of 10 balls thrown directly to him.

If it could have been possible, the Saints should have gone after Ed Reed pretty hard. It would have been like having Sharper in 09, he transformed that defense into a 39 turnover type defense. Ed Reed could have done the same thing in 2013.

Pass rush needed

2012 Most successful teams:

Ravens. - Ed Reed / Pollard
49ers. - Dashon Goldson / Whitner
Seahawks - Earl Thomas / Chancellor
Falcons. - Moore / Decoud
Packers. - Woodson
Texans. - Glover Quinn

All have Ballhawking Safeties.

Pass Rush is important, but Ballhawks are game changers.

We have horrible safeties. Pass Rush blah blah blah. There were times last year when we did have a pass rush and the safeties were still getting abused. We should have never given Harper that contract.

I agree, even the new CB is no ball hawk, Ryan uses his Safeties pretty the same way from what I read in Dallas, can't see either Safety playing Free well and being a ball hawk, neither has before.

2012 Most successful teams:

Ravens. - Ed Reed / Pollard

4 INTs/1 INT

49ers. - Dashon Goldson / Whitner
3 INTs/1 INT

Seahawks - Earl Thomas / Chancellor

3 INTs/0 INTs
Falcons. - Moore / Decoud
4 INTs/6 INTs
Packers. - Woodson
Texans. - Glover Quinn

1 INT/2 INTs

Just for reference....Harper had 2 picks and Jenkins had 1

I think that the idea that INTs make you a good safety is way overblown. The bills had some good safeties too...how'd they do?

If you think that Moore and decoud are better than our safeties you're sorely mistaken. Moore and decoud led the league in missed tackles per attempt for all DBs

If you think Harper is a Ballhawk then you cannot be reasoned with.

Safeties that are Ballhawks are batting balls, baiting QB's, lining the DB's up. So much more than INT's only.
