Barring Injury, barring Injury, barring injury...it's the most moronic non-position one can take.
Barring injury so and so will do well. Barring Injury the Saints will win it all. Barring injuries this team will be great...blah, blah & blah.
If you're guilty of saying it...stop it! You sound like a fool. Of course if he gets injured he won't do well. We know that stupid...you're not saying anything or adding anything to the conversation. Barring Injury...it's just dumb...knock it off.
Rant over.

(Cue the moron who will immediately say..."barring Injury _________ will do well" because he thinks he is funny...you're not.
Cheers
You're right and wrong.
"Barring injury, Drew will have a productive season" is idiotic. Correct.
"Barring injuries, the Saints will have a good year" isn't necessarily foolish because they had a good year last year with some serious injuries. It's possible to say "Even losing some players to injury, the Saints can still hold up in the playoffs." Therefore, the modifier of "barring injuries" is useful there.
But what if, according to my beliefs:
True:
Barring injury, the Saints will win the division and contend for a Super Bowl.
False:
The Saints will win the division and contend for a Super Bowl.
The Saints will win the division and contend for a Super Bowl = true.
