Baseball in NOLA (1 Viewer)

Pensacola and Birmingham regularly draw huge crowds. Everybody else in the (what used to be) Southern League struggles to draw 2,000 per game on a regular basis.

Memphis Redbirds are AAA in an equally steamy city and they regularly outdrew the Baby Cakes by several thousand. But there isn’t much else to do in Memphis comparatively.
we were in p'cola a few years ago and i saw that stadium just sitting on the water - it really looked like an awesome spot to catch a game
if we go back i want to make sure we see a game there

Read em and weep. Biloxi is a fun venue but rarely draws over 2,000. Biloxi and Jackson were in the same attendance range as New Orleans. Sad.

Yeah but the capaicty is only 6,067. That is avg a 1/3 of capacity each game.

By comparison Zephyr/Baby Cakes Stadium holds 10,000.

What happened to the Baby Cakes?

The Pensacola stadium is really nice.

Also, the Memphis stadium is right downtown.

They moved after 2019. Officials were trying lure a Southern League AA team when covid hit. Then MLB restructured the whole minor league system and several minor league teams lost their affiliation, so there probably won’t be much relocating going on for a few years. It was very bad timing for the cakes to leave.
