I have a 2 year old creative zen touch 20gb mp3 player. I love it but now the battery only lasts maybe 2 hours at best after lasting 8-9 hours when i first got it. is this normal? is there a way i can 'recharge' it back to its original life?

It's pretty typical for rechargeable batteries to lose their ability to hold a charge. Two years sounds about right (depending on usage and charging habits). If it's built in, it may need to be returned to be replaced. I would contact Creative. Their support is usually pretty good. Replacing the battery in my Garmin Palm cost $50.

how often did you let the battery fully run down?

if you constantly recharge a batter without letting drain out its full amount, you will shorten its life.
