Beer prices going up?
Jay Vice Reporting
A shortage of hops, a key ingredient in making beer, is having an impact on the Abita Brewery, the Northshore manufacturer of Abita Beer.
The entire beer industry is feeling the pinch of the hops shortage, but David Blossman, President of Abita Beer, says the shortage his smaller breweries like his even harder, because Abita uses a lot more hops than national brands.
He says one reason for the shortage is that many farmers are choosing to instead grow corn for ethanol.
