Benching Beerman for 1 muffed punt? (1 Viewer)

Whats up with Payton taking away punt return duties from beerman after 1 muffed punt?Reggie did a good job but still.I thought it was pretty lame.

I thought it was great.

For those that thought it was lame? Well, there's a new sheriff in town, one that goes by the word...accountability.

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Read my previous post my friend.

He definitely pulled him for the muffed punt. Payton doesn't play around. Michael Lewis does not have many responsibilities and one of his main ones are to catch punts. That mistake could have changed the game. Lewis better realize this or he might not last on this team.

+1

couldnt agree more.

lol.. i guess he wants rookie players to perform magic on the field.

And we can't use the vick and bush comparison because vick has been in the league over 6 years, Bush only 8 games, you do the math.
Bush needs to get out of his college days and watch Duece tapes.

Yeah, it's too bad Duece CAN'T stretch the field for Reggie the way Reggie does for him. Did you ever stop and think quite a few of Duece's runs are a product of Reggie recieving ability? Of course not..

Give up the hate man...we are 6-2 and like it or not, RB is a main reason because of that.

I say we don't need Lewis. Even if Reggie's too hurt to return punts, Copper didn't do an awful job, and Stecker can do it too. Why waste a roster spot on a 34 year old cming off of major knee surgery that has done nothing since the pro bowl year.

I see where you're coming from here but ML is head and shoulders above anyone we have on kickoff returns. Punt returns, yes, I agree he is expendable.

HOWEVER, he is also the best "gunner" on the roster and this is where he really shines.

ML poses a threat to go the distance on kickoff returns and also is one of the best at stopping good punt returns(as a gunner). Sorry, Stecker is good for 15 yards and a cloud of dust, at most. Until we find a wr, rb or cb that can excel at kickoff returns, ML stays on this roster.

Lewis is not just the return specialist, he is also a gunner on Kick-Off and Punt teams. Watch him fly down the field and find the ball carrier. I remember one really good stop he had yesterday.

I think it was not a benching but more of the opportunity to give Reggie some touches as he was not getting them rushing or receiving.

But if you're a $50 million RB who avg -5 yards on 11 carries you get praise from the coach the next day.Unbelievable.

because he has 700 total yards this year through 8 games.... even espn was analyzing how every defense so far has been focused on stopping bush!
