Guy on another board suggested this, I can get behind it. Rename Lee Circle to Benson Circle.

It's hard for me to think about taking down Lee. I thought it was an honorable and sobering reminder of a war that tore our country apart. Lee himself was very torn over slavery, but as a soldier, he took his orders and got shot over something he morally had a hard time with. However, if I was a man of color, I may very well be offended.
Sounds like a good idea. Benson Circle with the umbrella.

Read more history. Like, real history. Lots here to take issue with but let's not do this on the SSF or the thread gets moved.
Better to stick with: "Sounds like a good idea."
Why is it necessary to be a person of color to have an issue with this? It's hard for me to think about taking down Lee. The only question about you is using "Houston" in your SR name. You couldn't have use Thibodaux Saints or Tchopotoulus Saint or Grand Isle Saint or.... "Houston". hmmm..... That's kinda concerning

It's called empathy. Pretty basic human stuff.
I won't overdo the bona fides, but I was born in Mercy Hospital, grew up in St. Bernard, and was forced to Houston when I was almost 40 years old. And my immigrant father taught me to always pull for the southern-most team and to root for the Grey over the Blue n the Blue-Grey game (RIP). I also am highly biased to accept historical figures as people of THEIR time and not ours.
That said, again, my suggestion is that we keep this thread about the positives or negatives of using the space in Benson's name. If you want to discuss Lee's "internal struggles", read a LOT more history and then start a thread on the PDB.
