Besides Ms B closing the book on Allen, the loudest message today was... (1 Viewer)

My main problem with ML is not that he didn't pull the trigger on DA's firing, it's that he did pull the trigger to hire him in the first place. I can't remember who the other HC candidates were, maybe some of you can remind us old people.🙂
And how have those other candidates done since and did any of them even get HC jobs???

Two big ones were Doug Peterson and Brian Flores. Peterson really wanted the job.

No other candidates were seriously considered. The Saints front office went through the motions, but it was obvious that they were going to hire the in-house Allen.

And DA had more to work with when he took over than our next coach will have when football resumes in 2025.

Honest question: do you think Peterson would have done better? I don't know much about him.
I don’t think Carr would be here so probably so. He’s not doing a great job this year but that first year he turned around the Jags and he’s a big part of the reason the QB got the huge contract.

Yea ok I kinda remember that now.
Yea our roster is not very good. It's going to take a while to get back to a good roster.
I think if we get the number 1-5 pic, we need to trade back and acquire as many pics as we can. I remember Haslett saying that the draft is the lifeblood of your team. He was right.

Above all else Mick is a miserly accountant. He can kick the can on players contracts and keep that stink down the road. Dennis still had two years on his 5y/35m left. Mick didn’t have the dried raisins to eat that loss on his bottom line.
What this shows me is he don’t know crap about football. He knows how to read a few bullet points . Everything else he defers to the head coach. He was lost when Payton left and too prideful to ask for outside help during that turbulent time. One thing Allen can do is rattle off cliches and buzzwords.
Mickeys time has passed as a GM.

Especially if you can pick up some cheap kids that you can coach up to play better than the overpaid, salary cap eating spinsters that we have now.

No other candidates would have fared any better than Allen because “keeping Sean Payton’s team together” was hard-wired into the position.

None of them would have been able to bring fresh ideas and concepts in.

Mickey has his weekly radio spot tomorrow, that’s when you will hear from him.

I guarantee you Mickey was the one that fired DA with the blessing from Gayle. After that he’s busy addressing the team, and working with the coaches to get a replacement for Rizzi as the ST coach.
We can only hope this rational line of thinking actually is/will be the case.

... the complete silence from Mickey Loomis.

This tells me that Dennis was going to be Mickey's choice for 2025. I believe that he was convinced Allen would have righted the ship given enough time.
It doesn't sit well with me that the GM of the team was not vocally involved in any public way. This can only mean that he was not in agreement with the decision by Gayle Benson.

I believe that we are going to see a Loomis retirement at the end on this season. He just didn't see Dennis Allen as the problem. And his silence spoke volumes, loud & clear.
I agree. When you read his statement, he was ready to give DA a pass. It's time for him to go. Team needs a new direction.

What silence? He said as much as Mrs. Benson did.

And he's probably going to get fired this year.

I read both statements. Mrs B's was very focused on the fact that changed needed to happen, they read very differently. Not the only person who picked up on this, even Nick mentioned it podcast he did today.

I swear to god why even respond to my post if your not going to read the entire thing. I clearly said in the post that the injuries did have something to do with the loses. I don't ever recall saying ML was wrong anywhere in his assessment of DA.

This comment right here proofs the point I was trying to make. This is what ML wanted to do and Gayle stepped in and said otherwise. It's not that hard to see that ML was not ready to move on from Allen.

Its does make a difference and it's why Gayle fired him. Keeping DA shows the players there is not accountability, there tons of report from Underhill and Ross Jackson that DA had lost the the locker room. You don't fire DA and this game against the Falcons is a blood bath. If the season is already loss you move on from which will help with both the fans and players.

It's a football forum where people post there opinions, what do you expect. I never said there was even any division, I just think in this case Gayle had the final say. I would not be surprised if Loomis is still the GM next year.

You can have a different opinion then me, but at least read the entire post and don't attribute things to me I never said.
You infer that ML thinks that DA is blameless with is pure conjecture on your part, You have no idea how much ML thinks DA is the problem. weather or not DA was fired today or at the end of the season accountability is demonstrated. But keeping him to the end of the season shows potential HC's that the FO is willing to give a HC every chance to turn it around in the face of an incredible amount of injuries.
And make no mistake if we would have been relativity injury free our record would reflect that

This seems so Chrystal clear and disappointing. I’m a little shocked someone failclowned you because you’re dead on the mark. This whole thing has the makings of Loomis kind of stooging for Allen, complacent in his complacency. I surely hope this is a wake up shock and sincerely wish that we change things from top to bottom.
