Who has better? I'm looking for just pure rock vocal quality. Not necessarily the most successful or prolific or popular or the best songs. Just that voice that makes you stop down and pay attention. Lot of candidates like Ann Wilson and Lita Ford, maybe Dolores O'Riodan or Chrissie Hynde with powerful, unique vocals. But I have to go with Bonnie Tyler. That voice is just hauntingly perfect. I know the genre is arguably not "rock", but it's my thread, so soft rock makes it through.

Listen to this cover. And try to forgot about the weird opera vocals. Not sure what they were doing there. Her voice is fantastic.

This feels like it’s asking which female vocalist best approaches male rock singing power
So if it’s just power you want then Bjork or Diamanda Galas is the obvious answer- Kate Bush gets a mention, Annie Lennox
If we’re just asking who has the most male-y voice, who also sings jukebox rock songs it’s probably Ann Wilson or Chrissy Hynde
Honorable Mention Melora Creager (lead of Rasputina) and Naoko Yamano (Shonen Knife)

I see the thread title and open the thread to say Ann Wilson thinking I am going to be some super knowledgeable guy pulling a name from the past to make myself seem cooler than I really am only to find out this thread is full of Ann Wilson guys and slowly close it out and go read something else. Too many super cool knowledgeable guys hanging out in here.

Wilson is a safe, easy answer here. It's like saying the Beatles are the greatest rock band. Not much to argue, but it's just basic. Notice no one is posting an example of this easy answer? Because it probably wouldn't hold up to any level of scrutiny.

Ann Wilson easily.

And two women who I think could do super well as a rock lead vocal are Lady Gaga (her voice is perfect for rock and i thought she was great when she did Moth to a Flame with Metallica) and Miley Cyrus (she's done some amazing rock covers).

Honorable mentions, definitely love me some Pat Benetar and Joan Jett.

You mean the same group of guys who begin and end all Rick discussion with Metallica?
It’s like ordering Sam Addams when you want fancy beer
