Best New Orleans Area Restaurants. Your opinions? (1 Viewer)

Driven by it many times, but never eaten there. Heard good things for what it’s worth.
Menu offerings look tasty. I really need to give them a try.
Been wanting to go.

Best Israeli? Or is it considered Med?

I agree. They have a chef tasing menu with 7 courses. I’m planning to do that for my wife’s bday. I’ll let you know how it is.

That video has me excited about going there.
Thanks!

Same owner?
Shaya started as a collaboration between John Besh and Alon Shaya with the latter driving the menu. Then all the stuff with Besh went down and Shaya and he broke up. BRG (Besh restaurant group) sued and won to keep the name, and Shaya then opened Saba on Nashville and Magazine.

So Saba is the real Shaya and Shaya is just a shell of what it was.

Not real good at categories, but I do have some favorites.

Overall, if I'm hungry and want something good it's Mandina's. Steak, burger, remoulade, turtle soup...whatever hits the spot.

best pizza I think is Domenica Pizza, but I only eat pizza when I have the kid and forced to.

Have to agree that GW Finns is top rate.

Ain't dere no more award goes to Red's Chinese.

Don't typically go for steak houses in NOLA, but on the occasion we do, Chop House is good. Not a fan of Charley's, but the prissy among us seem to enjoy Desi Vegas, but that's cause I'm usually picking up the insane check.

Demario's unknowing contribution to this thread ;) :

New Orleans has a Super Bowl-winning football team, but the historic city is better-known for its unique culture, Mardi Gras and, of course, its food. New Orleans Saints All-Pro linebacker Demario Davis was asked about his favorite restaurants in the city recently on “The Herd with Colin Cowherd.”

“It’s a couple of places in New Orleans,” Davis said. “Number one, Morrow’s. He’s a legend in the city, and he just opened a new steak spot I gotta try, Morrow’s steak.”

He added: “I’m a crawfish type of guy, so especially coming out of summertime, Smitty’s is my spot. I’m gonna go there, but I mean you can’t find a bad meal in New Orleans. It’s hard to find.” ...

Morrow's Steak
