Best QB in the NFC South, per Matt Ryan... (1 Viewer)

Matt Ryan isn’t close to being the best qb in the NFC south and probably isn’t the best qb in the State of Georgia.

Maybe he’s counting on massive fall-offs from Brees and Brady this season? In all seriousness, Ryan is a really good QB, usually. He’s a level below great, though, because he tends to fold under pressure. So no Matty poopy pants, you are not the best. Just be quiet and do something about it if you feel that way.

Matt is ok, but not that good. He’s been carried by a pro bowl WR his whole career.

One of the things a QB is judged on is, how well can he do with less talent. Brees and Brady will get it done regardless.

If we are being honest, Ryan was 36-13 without Julio. 76-67 with Julio

An overlooked aspect of Ryan’s game is how he plays under pressure. He was never blessed with the great OL or OC (except two years with Shannahan) that Brees/Brady have had.

“Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan has thrown for more yards under pressure and touchdowns than any other QB in the NFL over the last 14 seasons, according to Pro Football Focus.”

Brees' best season as Saint 5400+ yards 46 TD 14 INT

Ryan's Best Season 4900+ yards 38TD 7INT.

Brees worst season as Saint 4600+ Yards 33TD 22 INT

Ryan's worst season I'll go with 2015. He had others worse but he was still a very young QB.

4500+ Yards passing 22TD 16 INT.

As you can see Ryan is nowhere near Brees stratosphere. Outside his MVP season Ryan's has had a few good seasons mixed with some mediocre ones.

Whereas Drew has had a lot of excellent years and a couple of really good ones.

Check mate!
And after the biggest flop in all of sports history, Ryan looks like a fool saying he’s the best. A great qb is more than just stats. A great qb inspires his teammate’s to play great as well. I have yet to see Matt Ryan will his team to victory in a playoff game. It seems Ryan has a history of becoming meek and mild when the pressure’s on. Sure he gets angry, and he’s even cussed on tv, but he needs to learn to be focused when the game is on the line. Until he can do this, he’ll never be on the same level as Brees, Manning, and Brady.
