Why does it have to be a pole? Why not just ask, what is your favorite song with a woman's name in the Title (restrict it as you like based on words other than the name) and then ask why? (Like the lyrics, like the melody, brings back a memory every time you hear it, etc). Music and musical tastes don't have to be absolutes.
Because we have to have a winner! :9:
Has the isolation destroyed your sense of competition?!?!?!? :covri:

Carole Baskins--Here Kitty Kitty is the only answer.

Not at all, but these are purely opinion based poles. If we want to determine a "winner" you'd have to put together some crazy formulas taking into account things like airplay, record sales (units and $$$), time spent on the charts, etc.

It's kind of like putting up a pole every week asking "Who is the better team this week - Saints or Opponent? I'd be more interested in the "why" than the "who" (not the band, The Who).

As far as my competitiveness, you needn't worry about that. I've no real competition to concern myself with!;)

It's not difficult, but most of you will get it wrong anyway, so here it is:

Looking for your favorite song on its musical merits - not the most popular, not the most influential, not the one named after your favorite ex. Musically the best song.

Any and all covers can be lumped in with the original

Song titles must be a name ONLY, so don't bother reminding me about Ah! Leah!. Yes, it's a superior song to all of these, but it has extraneous words. No Mrs. Robinsons or Lady Madonnas.

"But Cage, there are women named Patience. and Faith" GTHO with all of that nonsense. In fact, I'm removing the Other option right now because I'm convinced all of you will only abuse it. And no 'tacoes' either. None of you can handle a 'tacoes' option.
You people rock. This is a fun thread to read. I voted for Rhiannon in the pole. (?) Angie would be a close second.
