1. Brees..................41-2...... .953 (as a Saint player in which he completed the game)
2. Brady...............110-24..... .821
3. Manning...........108-25..... .812
4. Ryan..................54-13..... .806
5. Roethlisberger....91-24...... .791
6. Dalton................42-13..... .764
7. Rodgers..............57-20..... .740
8. Romo.................59-20..... .747
9. Wilson................46-17..... .730
10. Flacco.............. 60-23..... .723

The 2 games we lost:

2008 vs Washingon 29-24 (defense melts down in 4th quarter)
2007 vs Tampa Bay 27-23 (the genius double reverse call at midfield to try and run out the clock)

That record should be 43-0.

That is what happens when we have a complementary run game and defense. We are basically unbeatable.

Brees would be even better with help from the running game. But you somewhat need a defense too so you don't have to go into pass pass pass catch up mode.

Hes' not had much of either his entire career.

If stats like this mean nothing to you, then you have your head far up **** ***!
I have to admit when I did the research on this, the numbers had me floored (I knew they were good, but come on)

Coming that close to winning all 43 games is astonishing

Thank you! Finally a stat I knew i was right about. Drew under 40 attempts usually results to a W.
Now, how about Sean P's record when he runs it 30+ times? [emoji5]

I will try to dig that up, but if you do the math, the saints typically average about 66 to 67 plays per game in the Payton/Brees era, so 35 pass attempts or fewer most times resulted in at least 30 rush attempts.

So we are almost talking about the exact same situation.

We were up 2-3 scores most of the game and facing the worst run defense in NFL history.

Every time we have a game like this people act like Payton has had an epiphany. No, we just got out ahead of a team and were able to stay with the run against an awful run defense. When you are up in the 4th quarter, you can do that.

Other times, we may be down in the 4th, and you have to throw.

Think about it this way. If you're up by 14-21 points, are you going to be dialing up passing plays for almost every play on a drive or are you going to run the ball, mix in a few passes, to chew up the clock?

If you're down by 21 points, are you going to run a lot or pass like mad?

These type of stats are stupid. Sorry, but they are.

Now, if you look at first half balance, and tie that to end results, that might be more interesting. But the "balance" comes from situational football and awareness of what's working. If you're winning, you're more likely to run, because you're winning.

Did you know we're almost 100% at winning when we line up in the Victory formation?

From 2002 to 2005, Brees had the best running back in football and was only 23-18 when he threw 35 passes or less and 8-9 when he threw more. So why didnt he have the same success in San Diego when he man called LT running the football.

The difference being alot of the 35 pass attempts or less in New Orleans the Saints jumped out to a big lead thanks to passing game. I would love to see Brees yard per attempt in those games.

Lovely post.
Well, it's true.

I'd really like to see first half balance stats. Now, the last two games, we've started out more balanced. Our Offensive line manhandled the 9ers. That hole Ingram had on his long TD run could have fit a Buick though it.
