The Indiana Jones trilogy was on a lot last week and I watched them all again
Today's question - What is the better sequel? Temple of Doom or Last Crusade?
Note I didn't ask what the best Indy movie is - is there anyone anywhere who doesn't think that it's Raiders of the Lost Ark hands down?
Further note that I didn't bother listing Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
If you think that Crystal Skull is the best Indiana Jones sequel your opinion isn't wanted and doesn't matter
For a long time I would have said that Last Crusade was better easily.
It was a return to form after the much darker Temple of Doom
After watching it start to finish last week for the first time in a long time I'm not so sure.
To make up for the dark tone of Temple it's like they went too far in the other direction. Raiders has it's funny moments (most would pick shooting the swordsman but for me the part with the mirror on the boat makes me laugh out loud every time)
Last Crusade's humor seems a bit too much - the humor certainly works, and it works in context of Indiana Jones' world, it's not like it's a parody of an Indy movie or anything, but it's something I can't put my finger on
As much as I love Last Crusade, (Connery nails it) now I think I might prefer Temple of Doom
