Big Props to Bushrod (1 Viewer)

I agree, they weren't using TE's or RB's to chip alot this game. Carl Nicks did slide over though and pancake osi a couple times hah!

My BIG question is - with Brees seldomly sacked so far and Bushrod being the current mainstay against pass rushers, and the success of our team - can he potentially make the pro-bowl this year?

I seriously doubt it.

Unless you're some incredibly highly-heralded rookie, the way it usually goes is that you have an outstanding pro-bowl caliber year and then if you repeat it the following season, you get in.

But Bushrod's performance today must have sent a signal. I'd love to hear what Tom Coughlin thinks of him.

Jermon "BushGod" Bushrod deserves a TON or props after today's game.

Giants right defensive end Osi Umenyiora vs. Saints left tackle Jermon Bushrod
The Times-Picayune's scorecard gives the win to Bushrod, who with the help of left guard Carl Nicks and tight ends made the Giants' pass rush specialist a non-factor.
Umenyiora was credited with three tackles but no quarterback hurries.
"They didn't bring a lot of heavy amount of pressure, maybe in certain situations like third-and-long, " Bushrod said. "It was pretty much stuff that we were ready for. Everything they sent we had seen before. But our success was a result of the play calling and Drew getting the ball out and all of us as a whole getting the job done."

Not nearly knocking Bushrod's play, and he played great, but you also have to give some serious props to Nicks on keeping Osi Umenyiora in check all game long

This is what I seen !! Nicks was beating him down. Bushrod was doing an awesome job but Nicks was beating him up : )

I say we just make this easy and give props to the whole O-Line.

Hey wait a minute! We did that already on another thread.

Okay, I'll throw in some extra props for Nicks. Maybe I ought to throw in that Bobby Hebert was pretty excited about how Nicks played after the game and in one of those telephone caller responses he said something like "I don't know what you guys saw, but Carl Nicks was kickin' butt."

I also had the feeling that Bobby might not have missed too many rounds in the celebration today.

Jamal could be traded to better the team next year. he was always burned by speed rushers, but got to the probowl so he could be worth something

I keyed on Bushrod on a few replays....his footwork and speed making adjustments is amazing. He still doesn't have Brown's hand work but Bushrod is improving...rapidly. You see in Bushrod's movement the athletic ability long bragged about by the coaching staff. In this game Bushrod wasn't given much help from a TE or back either. They were running pass patterns and Bushrod was handling his business alone.

But the real strength of this OL is it's Guard play. Evans and Nicks are playing on another level right now. I'm thoroughly convinced if Payton wanted to he could line up his Offense in an I formation, two TEs, Evans at FB, PT or Bell at RB and successfully run a "smash mouth" running Offense. But when you have the best QB in the league why would you?

Brown is very expandable IMO but I believe he will be a free agent after the season, so if we want to trade him then it will have to be during the season which will be difficult since he's on IR. It will be hard to keep him though with the emergence of Bushrod and Strief and he will demand a lot of money.

Yes, Bushrod handled his business. The whole OL, my hat is off to them guys. They really protected Breez. He need to take them out to dinner..:9:

Jahri Evans also pulled around on passing plays several times to block the outside rusher, while Bushrod went inside. Don't know why, but it worked great.

I'm loving the fact the OL is getting so much recognition here. That shows how educted most Saints fans are when it comers to football. If Brees doesn't get time the timing for the passing game doesn't exist. The OL is doing a standup job. I fully expect the running game to return with powerful run blocking, too. The Giants are stout against the run.

Our O line was the major factor in the win, IMO. Brees barely got hit in the game, but our D got to Manning just enough to create a couple of turnovers (really, it should have been 3 with a pick 6), which we capitalized on. That's all our offense needed to put the game away. Beautiful game by the O line.
