Didn't see a thread, maybe I missed it, if so please merge.
I just watched this last night and thought it was very good. Netflix is doing a very good job making movies. This movie is definitely worth watching. Reminded me a little of The Happening, but with much better acting. Plus my favorite genre is post apocalyptic, so this was an excellent movie, IMO. Some people don't like movies that don't tell you all the answers, but I like movies that do not have to explain every detail and leave it open to imagination.

I thought it was very good too. I think the OP's description is spot on. It did a much better job, story telling and acting, of doing what the Happening was trying to do.

Also, here's a spoiler tag reminder since this a thriller movie on Netflix. Some people may not get to it until after the holidays. One of the great updates on SR is the Spoiler tag. In the dialog box (where you type your message), you should be able to get to it by hovering over the three dots in the menu bar. From there, select insert and choose "Spoiler" from the dropdown menu.

While I enjoyed it, I thought the book was better (which is almost always the case). Even though the movie was 2 hours long, I think it would have worked much better as a short series with maybe four or five hour-long episodes.

How can a movie where you already know the story from the book be as enjoyable as the book which was all new to you?

Good movie, I wish Malkovich would have survived longer
I agree. I also enjoyed the movie with the exception of one MINOR issue...

I would have liked to see what the actual entity looked like. Did it/they actually look like the drawings? And speaking of which, was it ever truly explained how the certain few were able to survive seeing the entity? Was it just because they had mental issues? So technically, that's two issues.

agree with all of this... and another thing...

I like being able to come up with my own conclusions, but I like having more than just a few scratch ingredients. At least with the happening, we know the plants emitted some chemical which induced the psychosis. In Bird Box, if we are to believe this is some rapture type event, then who is this entity that has come to pass judgement, and is what follows a tribulation? Then why does he seem so limited with how he can enact his mission and affect humans. If it is purely by sight, and can attack through monitors, then why can't it enter a house? Or go under a blanket?

So yea, in summary, fun to watch, great casting and acting, intriguing story an character development, but seems they fell back on lazy writing

I watched it last night and thought it was great. Quite a few unanswered questions, but I think that’s intentional.

We watched this last night. For some reason, we thought it was a series with a really long first episode. We didn't realize it was a movie until about 25 minutes left. It was really good and definitely worth a watch.

I think the mentally insane are already locked in a world of fear and pain that seeing it makes no difference to their will to live. To them it's balancing the rest of the world to think like them and see what they see, so they want others to see

I think they are like ghosts. They can't touch or move you or physically harm you but they can make you see visions causing you to do it, that's why the monitor trick failed and why they can't get into the houses, take off bandannas or go under blankets. Also while typing this out I guess they also can't move through walls or things like that so yeah very very limited ghosts :hihi:
