Bond Films: What is your favorite. (1 Viewer)

Just for the name, I'll go with Octopussy, but Casino Rouale was better.

Casino Royale was great, and I like a lot of the old Bond films growing up.
Watching Skyfall right now. So far, so awesome.

I thoroughly enjoyed Skyfall.

I don't really have a favorite film. Almost all of them have something i enjoy. But i agree that Craig plays a great Bond. Id say he's the best followed by Connary. Pierce Brosmonf was...ok., but not great. I thought he was a bit too cocky and suave almost to the point of being too unbelievable. With DC, his whole persona seems more natural.

My problem with all the Brosnan movies is that they were just going through the motions. They were like 90's rehashes of the Roger Moore era films. Brosnan himself seemed to be sleepwalking. He was the ultimate "generic" Bond. He had the accent, the tuxedo, etc. and there was nothing glaringly wrong with him, but he just felt like a placeholder. Like he was keeping the seat warm until someone more dynamic came along. I think that all kind of culminated in "Die Another Day," which was like a laundry list of Bond cliches, except so over the top that you can't take the movie seriously. It was like the insanity (some would say stupidity) of the Moore era with absolutely none of the charm.

GoldenEye was the best of his era, but I have to admit that whatever affinity I have for that movie is likely due to the N64 game at least as much as the movie itself.

I love Craig in the role. Like others have said, he seems closest to Flemming's Bond. He looks like a killer. In the original novel's Bond was far more than a super spy sex machine. He was at times completely broken about where his life had taken him, yet resigned to the fact that it was what he was destined to do. Craig evokes that well, I think, without telegraphing it.

Great points. I agree. I like to believe that when Fleming wrote the bond novels that he invisioned a character like Daniel Craig portrays.

Very much agreed. And i believe that the N64 game was an excellent marketing tool. It was the first game i ever played that allowed 4 people to interactively play against each other. I think that greatly boosted the popularity of the Golden Eye movie. But your points about Pierce as Bond are spot on.

I have always been partial to Live and Let Die, if only for this scene (among others):

I like "From Russia With Love", James Bond's strange, erotic journey from Milan to Minsk.

goldfinger is my favorite, followed by just about any of the connery films, moore films, goldeneye, casino royale (craig), and now skyfall.

IM Connery is the best, and I actually like Peirce Brosnan next.

Goldfinger, Golden eye (really like this movie, but it catches a lot of heat), From Russia with love, Dr. No are my favorites.

Also love Moonraker with Moore.

I do not like Daniel Craigs bond because he is like a super hero in these new bonds. I just don't like them, they are decent movies, but I don't even associate them with past bond movies. I want Bond to be more of spy like and undercover. The new bonds are over the top superhero films. I like the subtle, clever bonds from the past better.

These answers seem age driven.

On Her Majesty's Secret Service followed by Goldfinger and From Russia With Love.
